The BC/EFA fiscal year begins on October 1. On that day, every
year, the "fundraising odometer" rolls back to zero and we start
again. It seems somehow fitting that our first major event of
every fiscal year is a musical prayer of gratitude and hope.
This year, on Sunday, October 19th THE BROADWAY INSPIRATIONAL
VOICES performed a special 10th Anniversary Concert of
gospel music at New York's historic Town Hall hosted by Star
Jones and with special guest, Grammy Award winner and R&B
legend, Patti LaBelle joining the VOICES in a grand finale
The Broadway Inspirational Voices is a gospel ensemble
founded and musically directed by Michael McElroy, a well-known
Broadway performer and BC/EFA Trustee. The Inspirational Voices
is comprised of an impressive roster of singers from such
Broadway shows as Aida, Beauty & The Beast, Cabaret,
Hairspray, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, The Producers, Thoroughly
Modern Millie, Ren, Man of La Mancha, Jesus Christ Superstar,
Kiss Me Kate, Jekyll & Hyde, Smokey Joe's Café, The Music Man
and more.
For the last ten years, The Gospel Celebration allows its
audience to feel strength in our common humanity, as people of
all faiths and backgrounds came together to celebrate as a
community a higher power that underlines every faith. Over 50
voices strong, The Broadway Inspirational Voices sold out Town
Hall and filled the hearts of those in attendance with a
light-hearted and joyous enthusiasm, as it marked the beginning
of the BC/EFA fundraising season.
